INGREDIENTS BENEFITS

If possible, source vegetables, herbs, and fruits locally at your farmer's market or from organic sources.

A rainbow mix of vegetables brings visual variety, natural phytonutrients, fiber, and a broad antioxidant-focused meal profile.

Cooling, refreshing ingredients that make this bowl especially helpful during warm weather and suitable for a Pitta-balancing meal.

Sweet, grounding vegetables that add body, color, and gentle nourishment while keeping the salad satisfying.

Classic Ayurvedic spices that add warmth, aroma, and digestive support to balance the freshness of the salad.

Grounding healthy fats and mineral-rich seeds add texture, satisfaction, and a more complete plant-based meal feel.

Steaming, blanching, and roasting make the bowl easier to digest than a fully raw cold salad while preserving freshness and color.

Ayurvedic Utensil Recommendations & Serving Notes

  • Steamer Basket: Ideal for gently cooking cabbage, broccoli, carrots, or beets without making them heavy.
  • Clay or Ceramic Baking Dish: Useful for roasting carrots and golden beets with a grounded, earthy quality.
  • Stainless Steel Pan: Practical for lightly toasting seeds.
  • Wooden Spoon: Gentle for stirring and aligned with sattvic food preparation.
  • Glass Mixing Bowl: Keeps the salad fresh, clean, and visually beautiful.

Why Avoid Microwaves?

Microwaving food is traditionally discouraged in sattvic cooking because Ayurveda emphasizes fresh preparation, gentle heat, and preservation of prana, or life force. Warm cooked vegetables gently on the stove or in an oven.
